A Powerful Perspective on War and Its Devastation
Since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Ukrainian intelligence services have intercepted thousands of phone calls from Russian soldiers to their families back home. Oksana Karpovych masterfully juxtaposes these chilling and often contradictory voices—at times delusional, at times despairing—against harrowing images of the destruction they leave behind. The result is a documentary that not only documents the ongoing war but also exposes its deep moral and psychological fractures.
With its restrained yet devastating aesthetic, INTERCEPTED creates a tension between what we hear and what we see, revealing narratives that are often absent from mainstream news coverage.
An Award-Winning Film Making Global Impact
Since its World Premiere at the 2024 Berlin International Film Festival (Forum Section), INTERCEPTED has garnered international recognition, screening at over 40 festivals worldwide, including CPH:DOX, Hot Docs, AFI FEST, IDFA, Sarajevo Film Festival, and Melbourne IFF.
