Welcoming Amalie Atkins’ debut feature documentary ‘Agatha’s Almanac’ onboard ahead of CPH:DOX World Premiere
We’re excited to share that we’ve acquired the rights to Agatha’s Almanac, a stunning debut feature by Amalie Atkins, just ahead of its World Premiere at CPH:DOX! Selected for the DOX:AWARD competition, the film will premiere on Sunday, March 23, at 19:15 at DFI / Cinemateket, followed by a Q&A with Amalie herself.
This beautifully crafted documentary follows the fiercely independent 90-year-old Agatha Bock as she tends to her ancestral farm, preserving heirloom seeds and maintaining a way of life that predates modern conveniences. Without a car, cell phone, running water, or a functioning landline, Agatha’s daily rituals serve as a living archive of a vanishing era, offering profound insight into a nearly lost generation. Shot over six years on 16mm film by an all-female crew, including cinematographer Rhayne Vermette, the film captures the handmade materiality inherent in both the medium of film and Agatha’s tactile world.
Produced by Amalie Atkins for Minema Cinema Productions, Agatha’s Almanac is a celebration of independent filmmaking and a reminder of the beauty in simplicity.
We’ll also be presenting Fiume o morte! by Igor Bezinović, winner of the IFFR Tiger Award and FIPRESCI Prize, at CPH:DOX.
We can’t wait to be at CPH:DOX bringing these powerful films to the big screen—come join us for the screenings and conversations!
