Welded Together by Anastasiya Miroshnichenko Joins our Slate ahead of World Premiere at Sheffield DocFest
We are proud to announce our acquisition of Welded Together by acclaimed Belarusian director Anastasiya Miroshnichenko, which will celebrate its world premiere in the International Competition at Sheffield DocFest 2025. The premiere will take place on Friday, June 20, 18:00, at Curzon and will be followed by a Q&A with the editor, Kasia Boniecka.

A haunting study of resilience, sacrifice and sisterhood, the film follows Katya, a young woman who works as a welder. Abandoned as a little girl, she embarks on a personal journey to reunite with her lost family – to weld it back together, just like she welds metal at work. Despite the pain and disappointment she experiences along the way, Katya’s love for her little half-sister drives her to protect the child’s fragile world from a harsh reality.
Welded Together was produced by Valérie Montmartin and Raphaël Pelissou for Little Big Story (France); Iris Lammertsma and Babet Touw for Witfilm (The Netherlands); and Anton Iffland Stettner and Eva Kuperman for Stenola Productions (Belgium). The film was made with the participation of France Télévisions, in association with BBC Storyville, and in co-production with RTBF Télévision Belge.
Anastasiya graduated from the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, where she majored in Documentary Film Directing. Her first full-length documentary “Crossroads” (2014) is a philosophical story about a homeless artist. It premiered at the 30th Warsaw IFF, winning the Special Mention Jury Award and Audience Award. Anastasiya’s next full-length documentary “Debut” (2017) captures an intimate look at the lives of imprisoned women in Belarus, and premiered at the 30th IDFA in Amsterdam. The film was presented at the 2020 Academy Awards in two categories: Best Foreign Language Film and Best Documentary Feature.
