Welcoming Lana Daher’s Love Letter to Beirut, Do You Love Me, ahead of World Premiere at Giornate degli autori
We are thrilled to welcome Lana Daher’s debut feature Do You Love Me to the Lightdox lineup, as the film celebrates its world premiere at Giornate degli autori in Venice!
Crafted entirely from archival footage, Do You Love Me is a lyrical and deeply personal tribute to Beirut. Spanning seventy years of film, television, home movies, and photography, the film reflects on Lebanon’s collective memory — its resilience, creativity, and emotional complexity — while celebrating artistic expression as an act of remembrance and resistance.
“Beirut is home — a city suspended between violence and endurance, fragility and renewal,” says Daher. “By reinterpreting fragments of the past, I wanted to distill its layered identity — its memory, resilience, and tenderness — and give these images new life.”
“Lana Daher’s debut is not only a poetic love letter to Beirut but also a profoundly moving meditation on memory and collective identity,” says Anna Berthollet. “We are excited to bring this exceptional film to audiences around the world.”
Do You Love Me is written by Lana Daher and Qutaiba Barhamji, and produced by Jean-Laurent Csinidis of Films de Force Majeure (France) and Lana Daher of My Little Films (Lebanon), with co-producers Wood Water Films (Germany) and Studio Lemon (France).
