HOW TO SAVE A DEAD FRIEND awarded with Étoile de la Scam!
The film comes to cinemas across France starting June 28
Marusya Syroechkovskaya’s thrilling debut HOW TO SAVE A DEAD FRIEND continues to collect accolades and awards – the latest in the long list is an Étoile de la SCAM Award!
The jury of the 18th edition was chaired by Philippe Baron and composed of Cathie Dambel, Madeleine Leroyer, Tülin Özdemir and Cédric Tourbe. Nearly 450 works were entered this year. The thirty starred films will be screened in public, in the presence of their authors, at the Festival Vrai de Vrai, on November 18 and 19, 2023 in Paris, at the MK2 Bibliothèque cinema (with a free admission).
“The Étoiles of the Scam form a constellation in the sky of a year of documentary production.
Philippe Baron, President of the 2023 Jury
This trip took us to Ukraine and Russia, necessarily; to the confines of African deserts, to neighborhoods adrift American megacities, lost corners of distant jungles. Thanks to beautiful historical documentaries, we have revisited the totalitarianisms of the 20th century, the perversions of colonialism, the beginnings of consumerism. We have traveled very intimate paths, guided by beautiful introspective works. We met a multitude of earthlings.”
Starting from June 16 with avant-premiere screenings and Q&As with the film’s director, Marusya Syroechkovskaya, HOW TO SAVE A DEAD FRIEND hits cinemas across France starting June 28, distributed by La Vingt-Cinquième Heure!
