FIUME O MORTE! Nominated for Two Categories at the 2026 European Film Awards
We are thrilled to share that FIUME O MORTE! by Igor Bezinović has received nominations for both European Documentary and European Film category at the 38th European Film Awards!
The nominations were revealed at a ceremony at the Real Alcázar of Sevilla, following the 22nd Seville European Film Festival, placing the film among the most distinctive and daring works of the year.
A century after Gabriele D’Annunzio’s surreal 1919 occupation of Fiume, Bezinović and hundreds of Rijeka’s citizens join forces to revisit this chaotic siege through a radically inventive, communal reenactment. Blending fact, myth, performance, and political critique, the film transforms Europe’s strangest historical episode into a defiantly punk, incisively humorous, and sharply relevant exploration of propaganda and power.
Since winning both the Tiger Award and FIPRESCI Prize at its Rotterdam world premiere, FIUME O MORTE! has captivated audiences worldwide and become the highest-grossing documentary in Croatian history.
The winners of the 38th European Film Awards will be announced on 17 January 2026 in Berlin.
Our warmest congratulations to Igor Bezinović, the extraordinary team, and the citizens of Rijeka whose collective energy powers this standout film. We are incredibly proud to see FIUME O MORTE! honored at the very pinnacle of European cinema.
