At the age of 9, Carlos arrives from Mexico to Chicago with his three brothers and his parents. The day he turns 18, his future becomes uncertain. According to US law, Carlos is now undocumented. The slightest mistake can lead him to deportation. From defeats to successes, DREAMERS tells the story of Carlos now 38 years old, his brothers and the fate of 2.5 million people growing up in a country that still does not recognize them as its own.

Born in 1963, Luc Peter studied Political Science at the University of Geneva (BA 1986 and MA 1989). He then went on to study Filmmaking at the Ecole Cantonale d’Art in Lausanne (1994). He directed numerous documentary features as well as TV documentaries. Since 2001, he is a producer at Intermezzo Films.

Born in Beirut, Katia Monla grew up in Geneva. After obtaining a BA from the University of Ottawa, Canada, in Communication and Letters, she worked in the international music industry in Switzerland, for the Montreux Jazz Festival then for EMI Records as a press. She then became a freelance journalist for a local daily and wrote for various sections: local politics, portraits and culture. In 2014, she began a new career in Swiss independent film production and joined Intermezzo Films in 2017.
Founded in 1993, Intermezzo Films produces feature films and documentaries in a spirit of freedom and artistic rigour. It supports ambitious projects and revisits narrative forms to foster innovative and creative films. The company is committed to being an independent entity, close to the directors and the films it produces. With over 60 films to its name, Intermezzo Films is today one of the most prominent production companies in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. The films have been developed in international coproductions, notably with France or Germany, as well as with a well-established network of European television stations, and have been presented and rewarded in the finest festivals (Sundance, IDFA, IFFR, ACID Cannes, Visions du Réel, Venice Film Festival). Today, the company is run by producers Luc Peter and Katia Monla.
Dirk Manthey Film was founded in 2000 in Hamburg. Since then DMF has produced a multitude of films, both feature fiction films and documentaries. Since its creation, DMF has focused on international coproductions, both
in Europe and in Latin America, which whom it has built a strong network and which has allowed DMF to acquire an understanding of many cultural and industry-specific characteristics. In addition to its activities as
