BYE BYE TIBERIAS Nominated for Best European Film & Best European Documentary at 2024 European Film Awards

We’re overjoyed and proud to share that BYE BYE TIBERIAS by Lina Soualem has received dual nominations at the 2024 European Film Awards—for Best European Film and Best European Documentary!

With the newly introduced regulation, films from the categories “European Documentary” and “European Animated Feature Film” are also eligible for the category European Film. The nominations are based on the votes of 5,000 members of the European Film Academy who have been watching the films included in the annual Academy Selection.

This acknowledgment is a testament to the power of storytelling and the importance of amplifying voices like Lina’s, which resonate with audiences across the globe.

In this deeply personal exploration, Lina accompanies her mother, the renowned actress Hiam Abbass (Succession), on a journey back to her Palestinian village. Through intimate moments, the film unveils the legacy of resilience and separation carried by four generations of women—a shared story of strength, migration, and identity.

The 2024 European Film Awards will be celebrated in Lucerne, Switzerland, and the ceremony will take place on Saturday, 7 December in Kultur und Kongresszentrum Luzern (KKL).
