51st Visions du Réel
(17 April—2 May 2020)
51st Visions du Réel (17 April—2 May 2020), a first time completely online edition, was finished with success, bringing new formats, industry events and online meetings but keeping rigorous artistic standards to great line-up.
With sincere joy we announce acquisitions of two wonderful documentaries which had World premieres at Visions du Réel, Il Mio Corpo by Michele Pennetta, in International Feature Film Competition and Their Algeria by Lina Soualem, in Latitudes section.
Lina Soualem’s first feature, Leur Algérie/Their Algeria, is intimate story of her grandparents and the identity of Algerian immigrants in France after the Second World War.
…Lina Soualem successfully pieces together a moving documentary. A wonderful tribute to Aïcha and Mabrouk (who has since passed away), the film sheds a fair and down-to-earth light on the complexities behind an identity which appears to be plunged into nothingness, but which is actually firmly anchored in the emotional folds of time.
